How Metabrands Began
Metabrands launched in 2021 as an extension of TK Brand Group LLC, a marketing agency specializing in brand partnerships, product licensing, and influencer campaigns, founded by Tamra Knepfer in 2010.
With 30+ years of experience managing a broad range of brands – from Disney’s Winnie the Pooh to Fifty Shades of Grey – Tamra’s unparalleled experience and network of connections across a variety of industries fueled TK Brand Group’s growth over the past decade.
Tamra saw firsthand the rapid growth of the metaverse, the extraordinary marketing opportunities it offered, and the need for a central, specialized resource to assist brands and agencies in the highly fragmented and rapidly evolving space.
Thus,
Metabrands was born.
Tamra's entrepreneurial success started in 2010 when she formed TK Brand Group, the parent company of Metabrands. TK Brand Group’s extensive list of clients has included American Greetings, Comcast, Microsoft/Nokia, NBCUniversal, Disney, Sony, WaveXR, and numerous influencers.
Working with WaveXR, TK Brand Group helped usher brands into the metaverse with breakthrough virtual product integrations and marketing partnerships with ASICs, Crocs, HyperX, People Magazine, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Timex, and more.
Tamra’s career began at The Walt Disney Company, where she managed marketing and licensing programs for Disney Consumer Products. Following Disney, Tamra held various senior-level roles with other major brands including Sesame Workshop, American Greetings, Rodale, Chorion Silver Lining, Iconix Brand Group/Peanuts Worldwide, and Branded Entertainment Network (BEN), a celebrity licensing and brand integration agency, privately-owned by Bill Gates.
Knepfer earned a B.A. degree with a double major in Economics and English and a minor in Communications and Media Studies from Tufts University, and an M.B.A. degree with a double major in Marketing and Management of Organizations from Columbia Business School.
